Police investigate attempted homicide near Sanborn and Laurel

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police are investigating a shooting near N. Sanborn Road and E. Laurel Drive that left one person with a gunshot injury.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of the 1000 block of E. Laurel shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, but initially were not able to find a victim.

Later, dispatchers got a report that a man at an area hospital arrived with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his left thigh. When police arrived, they said the 18-year-old did not cooperate.
