SALINAS, Calif. (KION) In an effort to help migrant families stay warm this winter, the Monterey County Office of Education's Migrant Education Program is hosting a blanket drive.

The event lasts until Dec. 18, and blankets can be dropped off at the Migrant Education Main Office at 901 Blanco Circle in Salinas.

The Senior Director of Migrant Education, Summer Prather-Smith, said they began collecting blankets for migrant families last year because they stop working at about this time and extra items, such as blankets, can be hard to come by.

For more information, you are asked to call Prather-Smith at 831-206-4448, Jorge Jasso at 831-594-7804, Esther Medina at 831-261-4204 or Karla Caliz at 831-905-0553.
