FELTON, Calif. (KION) More than 100 students in the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District lost their home in the CZU Lightning Complex Fires. Now more than a month after school resumed, those families still need the basic life necessities while waiting for a new permanent home.

A total of $48,000 in gift cards were donated to families in the district impacted by the wildfires. Things like shoes, quilts and books have flooded in from organizations around the county.

Tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION, Drew Andre speaks with the district superintendent about how SLVUSD is navigating the wildfire recovery and distance learning for their students.
