SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police are investigating an attempted murder that happened on Orchard Avenue Wednesday night.

At around 8:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 100 block and spoke to witnesses. Several of them confirmed to police that there was a shooting, but they could not find a victim.

A few minutes later, police said a 25-year-old man went to Natividad with a gunshot wound to his lower torso. The injury is not life-threatening.

The shooting is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call 831-758-7250 or 831-775-4222 to remain anonymous.
