SEASIDE, Calif. (KION)

Unlike past protests on the Central Coast, Friday's brought two communities of people together.

Things became intense when protesters tried to march on Highway 1 at Fremont Street, Friday.

Police officers managed to keep protesters off with concerns for their safety, standing in line with batons. Eventually, protesters complied.

This demonstration was considered a black and brown solidarity march.

Protesters are urging people of color to unify under a cause: to end racial injustice and racism.

It stared at Seaside High School and finished at CSUMB, where they met up with protesters who marched from Salinas.
