According to Tyler Dreyfus, her husband is in critical care and has undergone several procedures, but is stable.

"Doctors have provided very positive feedback regarding his current condition and prognosis and remain optimistic for a positive outcome. Nick is surrounded by family and fellow Deputies and his spirits are high!" Tyler Dreyfus wrote in a statement.

On Wednesday, a suspect identified as Mason James Lira opened fire on the Paso Robles Police station, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office. Police called for help, and when they responded, Dreyfus was shot in the face.

The following day, Lira was killed in an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. During the exchange, an Arroyo Grande police officer, a CHP officer and a Kings County deputy were also injured.
