Community health clinic feeds farmworkers

Farmworker food giveaway
KION

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A local community health clinic, Clinica de Salud, did more than just offer medical services on Saturday. Clinic employees provided food for farmworkers at eight of their locations.

In Salinas, employees said they had so many people stop by that they were running out of supplies.

“Most likely not a lot of people are working right now," Gerardo Lopez said. "And not enough money to take home to buy food, so it’s really good to get some food right now.”

The food was meant for farmworkers, but clinic employees said they haven't turned anyone else away. They said they understand the need for help expands beyond workers in the agriculture industry right now.
