Man arrested in connection to at least three Watsonville burglaries

Watsonville Police

WATSONVILLE, Calif, (KION) Police arrested a man in connection to at least three Watsonville burglaries Tuesday.

Watsonville police said the suspect, 48-year-old transient Benjamin Sanchez, was caught on camera breaking into the service stall of a car dealership with bolt cutters on the 500 block of Auto Center Drive on Feb. 24. He reportedly stole hundreds of dollars in tools before returning four hours later and stealing a 5-gallon gas tank.

A week ago, police said Sanchez returned to the same area and broke into a truck that was waiting to be repaired and stole hundreds of dollars worth of tools.

Detectives found and arrested Sanchez Tuesday. He was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on three counts of felony burglary.

Investigators are still looking for the stolen items. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Tyler Wildey at 831-768-3356.
