MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Two African penguin chicks have rejoined the penguin colony at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Piper and Tule have spent the past few weeks behind the scenes learning penguin skills, but now they have graduated and moved back with the other penguins.

To see them, look for the penguins with silver-gray feathers without any racing stripes at the aquarium.

The two hatched back in early December. Tule was named with the help of the public after a water pant used by Ohlone peoples, and Piper was named by aviculture volunteers after sandpiper birds seen on local beaches.
