SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION) A Watsonville man was arrested in Scotts Valley after police said one of their K-9s found drugs in his car.

An officer stopped Juan Hipolito early Tuesday morning. Police said Hipolito was known to have a suspended drivers license and a history of drug offences, so the officer conducted a traffic stop.

The officer used K-9 Atlas to search the vehicle and said he found a fake compartment that contained meth and drug paraphernalia. Multiple ID cards and a U.S. Passport were also found, according to police, along with items related to a Santa Cruz theft.

Hipolito was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on five misdemeanors and one felony. A probation hold was also issued.
