SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police are asking for the public's help solving the 2011 murder of 61-year-old Artemio Garcia.

Early in the morning on Oct. 23, police said Garcia went to his car parked on Casentini Street. Police said he drove to Gilroy every day around that time to work as a truck driver.

Detectives said Garcia was approached by an unknown suspect and was shot at close range for unknown reasons. Family members later went to the area and found Garcia dead.

Garcia had no gang ties and no criminal history, according to Salinas police. The motive for his murder is still unknown.

Police are asking anyone with information, no matter how small the detail may be, to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Det. Justin Heckman at 831-758-7971 or justinh@ci.salinas.ca.us.
