SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) On Wednesday, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said three mountain lions were spotted at a home in the Rolling Woods neighborhood.

Deputies were called to the home after the mother left the cubs under a car and jumped a fence. They called in the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Puma Project. The mother is one of the mountain lions the Puma Project tracks, so they were able to trace her to the Henry Cowell area.

Brook Knoll Elementary School was locked down for part of the morning as a precaution.

The mother later returned and took the cubs with her when she left.
