SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A Salinas man who sexually assaulted a woman and had child porn was sentenced to prison Thursday.

In January, Salinas police got a report that the man, 33-year-old Virgilio Santos, had put video cameras in his home bathroom. A girl who was 14 at the time said that in August 2018, she had seen videos of her and her 7-year-old sister using the bathroom on Santos' phone. Police said the video was recorded on his phone and showed the girls' genitals while they were using the restroom.

The day after officers responded to that, an adult woman came forward saying that while she was walking on a sidewalk, she saw Santos in front of his house. He was her husband's friend, so she greeted him. She said he looked at her, but did not say anything. Then felt Santos grab her from behind, touching her breasts and genitals over her clothes for a few seconds. She was able to get away.

Santos was sentenced to six years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender. Santos is also ordered not to have contact with the victims for the next 10 years. The assault is considered a strike under California's three strikes law.
