Pacific Grove man sentenced to prison for DUI crash resulting in major injuries

A Pacific Grove man was sentenced to 4 years and 4 months in prison for a DUI crash that caused major injuries.

In January 2018, the CHP responded to a head-on crash on Highway 68. 63-year-old Howard Finn was the driver of one of the vehicles, and he had fractured ribs and a fractured sternum as a result of the crash.

A married couple was in the other vehicle. The vehicle itself had major damage, but the person in the front seat had major injuries that included multiple fractures, intestinal injuries and brain injuries. The driver of the victims’ vehicle had minor injuries.

Officers noticed that Finn seemed to be impaired when they were speaking to him, and after a DUI investigation, officers found that Finn had a blood alcohol level of .15 at the time of the crash.

During the sentencing, the District Attorney’s Office said the victims addressed the court about how Finn’s actions affected not only their lives, but the lives of their five children. The couple said they forgive Finn and hope he can get help, but the DA’s Office said they also begged him to never drive after drinking again.
