Two arrested after illegal cannabis grow found near San Benancio Middle School

Two men were arrested on Thursday by Monterey County sheriff’s deputies in connection with an illegal marijuana grow.

It was found next to San Benancio Middle School outside Salinas. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were investigating a theft when they found 80 plants and concentrated cannabis.

One of the two men arrested, David Clark, is facing charges of possession of marijuana for sale, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a controlled substance and illegally growing marijuana. His bail is set at $30,000.

The other suspect, Francis Humes, is charged with possession of marijuana for sale, illegally growing marijuana, conspiracy to commit a crime and vehicle theft, among other charges. His bail is set at $100,000.
