Inmate convicted of sexual assault in Monterey County Jail

An inmate at the Monterey County Jail was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault.

According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, Salinas resident, Orion Martinez and several other inmates surrounded a man and held him down while they inserted their fingers into his anus.

“One of the inmates attempted to sodomize the victim but it was not clear if he was able to penetrate the victim,” said District Attorney, Dean Flippo.

Despite other inmates telling the victim not to report what happened on August 11, 2017, he did.
