Seaside Police arrest rape suspect at Laguna Grande Park
Seaside Police arrested a man suspected of raping a woman in the woods at a park in Monterey.
According to Seaside Police, a call came in about a woman in distress at Laguna Grande Park around 1:10 a.m. Thursday. Officers searched the park and found 46-year-old Carlos Francisco Miguel had sexually assaulted a female victim on the east side of the park.
“Miguel knew the victim and this was not a random act,” said Chief Robert Jackson.
Miguel was arrested for rape, domestic battery, criminal threats, violation of probation, and possession of a make-shift zip gun which the department said was capable of firing shotgun rounds. Miguel also had a felony warrant for robbery.
Miguel was booked into the Monterey County Jail. The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
