Seaside woman arrested in fatal motorcycle crash
A Seaside woman is in custody and accused of causing a fatal motorcycle accident Tuesday morning.
Mariam Smith, 59, faces charges of vehicular manslaughter.
Police say Smith was driving a minivan that hit a motorcyclist at the intersection of Fremont Blvd and Charles Avenue in Seaside around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers found an adult male lying unconscious next to the downed motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police say drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.
This is the third fatal traffic accident on the Central Coast in three days.
