Weather Authority Forecast Summary

High pressure remains in control, though temperatures will remain seasonable through mid-week. Slight warming expected by the end of the week as the ridge strengthens. Flow will remain onshore which will keep the daily cycle of low clouds and seasonable temperatures in the forecast for the coast.

Wednesday: Low clouds will be on the decrease by mid-morning, but it is likely some will linger on the south/east sides of Monterey Bay throughout the day with highs in the low to mid 60s. Elsewhere, expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s on the coast and mid 70s to upper 90s for inland areas. Windy in the Salinas Valley during the afternoon and early evening.

Tonight: Low clouds expand throughout coastal areas and adjacent valleys. Some fog in the hills and the inland valleys. Patchy drizzle near the coast. Expect coastal lows in the low to mid 50s with upper 40s to mid 50s for inland areas.

Thursday: Patchy low clouds on the south/east sides of Monterey Bay but mostly sunny elsewhere. Coastal highs in the 60s to mid 70s with upper 70s to around 100ºF inland. Breezy at times.

Extended: Seasonable weather will continue on the coast with the daily cycle of low clouds through the weekend. Inland temperatures will increase through Friday where highs will be about 5 degrees above normal, then cool through Monday with highs about 5 degrees below normal. Besides a few low clouds in the valleys in the morning, inland areas will remain sunny.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for July 5th-11th calls for the likelihood of above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation, though little to no precipitation typically falls this time of year.

El Niño/La Niña STATUS: Neutral
Forecast: Weak El Niño is possible in the coming months.
