King City announces new Immigration and Citizenship Assistance program

King City approved a new program that will offer individual assistance to local residents with concerns about immigration and citizenship.

City officials in King City said often times the community has a lot of questions regarding issues with citizenship. A new pilot program will now provide information free of cost.

“In an effort to effectively serve the needs of everyone in the community, the King City City Council recently approved a program that will offer individual assistance to local residents regarding immigration and citizenship questions through the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Monterey,” said city manager, Steve Adams.

King City contracted with Catholic Charities for a six month period to offer assistance to people. Catholic Charities office hours are on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, located at 504 N. Third Street, King City.

The Catholic Charities is intended to be a place where the community can obtain accurate information in a confidential environment. Information available includes, your rights, how to obtain citizenship, how to develop a family plan, and all other questions involving immigration and citizenship.

The new pilot program starts Friday, June 30.
