Racist packages delivered to UCSC, police say

A guy wearing black clothing and orange-rimmed sunglasses was seen dropping off packages at UCSC in surveillance footage taken near Merrill College this week, according to police.

UCSC Police Chief Nader Oweis said the packages were left in several locations on Wednesday and Thursday, containing a CD and a note with references to the “white power movement” and a website affiliated with white supremacists.

Oweis said similar packages have also been found off-campus in Santa Cruz.

A surveillance picture of the suspect was released and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 831-459-2231 x1.
