Aptos woman killed in Santa Cruz

The Santa Cruz Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of an Aptos woman.

According to police, officers found 66-year-old Shannon Magner dead inside an apartment on Front Street just before 5 a.m. Monday, September 26 th .

Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

Forensic tests and an autopsy confirmed that Magner was stabbed in the back of her neck.

Detectives do have a possible suspect, but the person’s name won’t be released until an arrest warrant has been issued.

Police believe the suspect may have left the Santa Cruz County area and is not a threat to the community.

Officers are still looking for a motive.
