Pebble Beach Food & Wine gives boost to economy

Raise a glass because it’s that time of year. People from all over the world will gather for the four day event, that like wine keeps getting better with time.

“You’ve got over 200 wineries pouring over 500 individual wines. You can imagine what it would cost to go see all of these chefs at the restaurants, try these wines from around the world and meet the wine makers. You can do all that in one place in beautiful Pebble Beach,” said Pebble Beach Food and Wine CEO David Bernahl II.

The pebble beach food and wine festival kicks off Thursday, however this year will be different.

“We are bringing the food and wine festival out of the area. So it’s the first time ever a festival will be live streamed to Chicago. So the people in chilly Chicago will be eating the same caviar and sipping the same champagne as we are here in Pebble,” said Bernahl.

Showcasing the festival, while showing off the area. Something local businesses seem to like.

“It brings in a lot of people from around the world. We have a few rooms available for this weekend, but other than that we are sold out for the four day event so it’s great,” said Colonial Terrace General Manager Amber Cyran.

And isn’t that what it’s all about, great food, wine and spreading the love.

“That’s why we’re doing events in Monterey. We’re looking to do things in Salinas moving forward, Carmel, Big Sur. It’s not just about us here in Pebble Beach, this will always be the epicenter, but we want to continue to grow really special meaningful events that celebrate Monterey County with chefs from around the world. Showcasing our great produce, amazing wine industry and bringing people in from all over the place to enjoy this,” said Bernahl.
