Watsonville Police arrest 3 murder suspects in 3 cases in less than 48 hours

The Watsonville Police Department arrested three murder suspects in three different cases in less than 48 hours.

The suspects are Brandon Ruiz Martinez, Daniel Garcia and Damian Baxter.

Martinez was wanted in the 2014 shooting that killed a 4-year-old girl. The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Valley Inn motel. Watsonville Police have been working with the FBI since the shooting to arrest the 8 suspects involved in the shooting. With help from Mexican authorities, Martinez, who had fled to Mexico, was arrested in Zinapecuero Tuesday night.

Daniel Garcia, 16, was arrested on Nov. 23 in connection to the deadly shooting of Mario Daniel Hernandez, 19, on Nov. 22. Hernandez was shot and killed on Clifford Avenue. Garcia was arraigned on Nov. 25 and will be charged as an adult. He faces first degree murder.

Damian Baxter, 29, was arrested on Nov. 24 in connection to the deadly shooting of Jesus Rocha, 33, on Nov. 17. Rocha was shot and killed on Palm Avenue. Watsonville Police identified Baxter as a person of interest shortly after the homicide and tracked him to a Greenfield apartment complex on the 24th. Baxter will be arraigned on Nov. 30.
