Suspect arrested in Salinas armed carjacking

Salinas police arrested a suspect wanted in connection to a carjacking in the area of Sanborn Road and McGowan Drive.

A Salinas police officer was in the area of Central Park Thursday morning when he recognized Jacob Salinas, 18, wanted for an armed carjacking on Oct. 24. Police said he was also known to posses a handgun.

Salinas was walking with a second person. Both of them ran towards Homestead Avenue and Archer Street, police said.

Officers set up a perimeter and began a search. Salinas was located on the 300 block of Central Avenue. The second person was not found.

Salinas was booked into the Monterey County Jail for carjacking and an outstanding juvenile warrant.
