Winners of student “Santa Cruz Recycles” poster contest announced

Santa Cruz city officials have announced the winners of this year’s “Santa Cruz Recycles” poster contest.

The annual poster contest is open to students in grades k-12.

This year’s Santa Cruz Recycles! winners are:

Macy Waters, grade 7, Mission Hill Middle School.
Kira Thomasser, grade 8, Mission Hill Middle School
Reva Beltran, grade 5, De Laveaga Elementary School
Qynn Meulman, grade 2, Tannery Arts Center

Their artwork has been enlarged and will be displayed on the sides of city refuse and recycling trucks over the next year. The students will be honored at a ceremony Wednesday, Oct. 1 and their artwork will be unveiled on the trucks at the City Corporation Yard, 1125 River St., Building E, from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Each winning artist will receive a prize pack in a reusable City of Santa Cruz canvas tote bag.
