National Voter Registration Day is today, Sept. 23

Today is National Voter Registration Day and Central Coast elections officials are reminding community members to register to vote for the upcoming November election. The deadline is Oct. 20.

Registration can be done online here.

Registration drives also will be held throughout Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.

Students from Alisal High School will be promoting voter registration during their breaks and after school outside the school and the Cesar Chavez Library.

The Student Body Association from Hartnell College is also organizing students for a registration drive all day on the West Alisal campus.

In Santa Cruz County, online voter registration and paper voter registration cards will be available at all branches of the county library. A complete list of hours and locations is here.

Voters may also come to the Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections Department located at 701 Ocean St., Room 201 in Santa Cruz from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and register to vote. City clerks in Capitola, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, and Watsonville also will have voter registration cards for voters to register at their offices during regular business hours.

In addition, the Santa Cruz County League of Women Voters will be registering voters at three locations:

Cabrillo College Watsonville Center, Bldg. A, 318 Union St., Watsonville. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Johnnie’s Market, 13225 State Route 9, Boulder Creek. 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Safeway, 2203 Mission St., Santa Cruz. 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Cabrillo College and UC Santa Cruz also will be hosting registration events later this week during Welcome Week at both schools.

Cabrillo College Main Campus – Wednesday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cabrillo College Watsonville – Thursday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
UCSC – Friday, Sept. 26 to Monday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
