Former Pacific Grove police commander’s ex-wife sentenced to 8 years in prison

The ex-wife of a former Pacific Grove police commander was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for committing widespread identity theft.

Kristin Nyunt pleaded guilty earlier this year to burglary, forgery, identity theft and computer network fraud.

Prosecutors said Nyunt will have to serve at least three years of her sentence behind bars and will then be placed on mandatory supervision.

Nyunt is the ex-wife of John Nyunt, who also faced charges in connection with the identity fraud. Prosecutors said he helped his then-wife access private police records and made efforts to cover up her crimes. He was sentenced to three years in prison earlier this year.
