Sobriety checkpoint to be conducted Thursday night in Salinas

A sobriety checkpoint will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to midnight in Salinas.

It’s part of Avoid the 20, the summertime multi-jurisdictional crackdown on DUI suspects in Monterey and San Benito counties.
The 18-day push ends on Labor Day.

Officers have made 89 DUI arrests since the effort began Aug. 15. That’s an increase of 31 percent from the previous year.
