Deputies detain 7 after burglary in Salinas

Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies detained seven people at a Salinas home Tuesday in connection with a burglary that occurred earlier in an unincorporated area of Monterey County.

The sheriff’s office said a burglary in the area of Natividad and Old Stage Road was interrupted by the homeowner. A witness saw people leaving the house and reported it. After gathering information, deputies followed the suspects to a residence at 2 Deer Place in Salinas.

A traffic stop was conducted on the suspect’s car, where two people were taken into custody. Deputies found an additional four people in the home. They said they located a juvenile hiding under the same house, who took off.

After a chase that crossed Highway 101, he was also taken into custody.

Destiny Lopez, 20; Gilbert Ortiz, 19; Nathen Garcia, 22; Jose Montelon, 19; Damien Sanchez, 21; and Stephanie Aloccer, 22, were the adults arrested.

Deputies were assisted by Salinas police and CHP during the search.

No injuries were reported and no word on the stolen property.
