Hollister martial arts instructor sentenced to 13 years in prison

The former martial arts teacher arrested on sex crimes against a 14-year-old was sentenced to 13 years in state prison Thursday.

The San Benito County District Attorney’s Office reports Timothy Gutierrez, 52, recently pleaded no contest to one count of forcible rape of a 14-year-old child, two counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a 14-year-old child, and one count of false imprisonment by violence stemming from his 2013 arrests by Hollister Police.

The teen victim was a student of Gutierrez, who taught martial arts at Technique Studio. He was arrested April 22, 2013, after the victim’s parents discovered inappropriate contact between the man and their young daughter and reported it to police.

Gutierrez must also register as a sex offender.
