Salinas Homeowner Shoots At Would Be Burglars, Police Say

A 78-year-old man trying to protect his home shot at two people trying to break in Sunday night, said Salinas Police.

The victim was asleep when he heard the garage door that led inside his home being kicked in just before 10 p.m. According to police, the victim grabbed for the revolver that he keeps next to his bed.

The victim said as he sat up in his bed he saw a flashlight shine into his bedroom from the hallway. Fearing for his life, the victim fired a shot in the direction of the flashlight, said police.

A witness told police that there were two people who ran from the house after the shooting towards St. Edwards Street. Police searched the area but were unable to find any suspects.
