Police: Stong-Armed Robbers Strike in Watsonville

A suspect is behind bars and another is on the run following a strong-armed robbery Monday night.

It happened on the 100 block of West Beach Street. That’s where police say 27-year old Adam Lee Delgado, along with a second suspect, approached a 47-year-old woman and demanded her purse. Investigators say the victim feared for her life and didn’t resist the suspects. Both later fled on foot.

After a search of the area, Watsonville police say they found Delgado running and acting suspiciously.

The victim then contacted and informed police of the robbery and identified Delgado as one of the suspects. Officers also recovered the victim’s purse, which had been hidden nearby. Police say they searched the area for the second suspect, but were unable to locate him.

Delgado was arrested on suspicion of strong-armed robbery and a parole violation. He was booked in the Santa Cruz County Jail.
