Newborn Kyzer getting ready to go home to Scotts Valley in a stocking

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) This month, every baby born at Dominican Hospital will be going home in an oversized stocking.

It's part of a tradition that goes back decades, according to the hospital. Retired maternity nurses from Dominican, known as The Grateful Thread, sew oversized stockings and donate them every year.

Featured in the photos is Kyzer, who was born this week at Dominican and will be going home to Scotts Valley with his parents, Chanelle and Brad Shelton, in one of the stockings.
