California to provide extra paid sick leave for food service workers

Justin Sullivan

(KION) California Governor Newsom announced at a news conference Thursday that he has signed an executive order to provide extra sick leave to food service workers affected by COVID-19.

Newsom said he would focus on essential workers who are not unemployed and have supported the state's food chain, saying they have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic.

The executive order would provide two weeks of extra paid sick leave for food service workers who have COVID-19, were exposed to it or had to be quarantined.
