Salinas libraries working on 3D printed masks for first responders

MGN

SALINAS, Calif. (KION)

Monterey Country Libraries are using two 3D printing machines to print plastic versions of the N-95 masks for first responders.

So far, five masks have been made and their goal is to make as many as possible for as long as they are needed.

Some of the prototypes feature filters and face guards made with repurposed ordinary office supplies.

The printers will also be programmed to make doorknob covers to keep regularly touched surfaces clean.
