Number of Santa Cruz County coronavirus cases up to 23

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 3/23/2020 10:15 a.m. The number of coronavirus cases in Santa Cruz County is up to 23 as of Monday morning, according to the county's Health Services Agency.

On Sunday, there were 17 confirmed cases of coronavirus, or COVID-19, in the county.

There is currently a Shelter in Place order in effect in Santa Cruz County.

PREVIOUS STORY: The County of Santa Cruz announced Sunday that there are 17 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Santa Cruz County.

The announcement came through the county's officials twitter page and noted that "[the number of cases] is likely to rise significantly in coming weeks."

The county is encouraging residents to continue practicing social distancing. It did not reveal which towns or cities these newest patients are residents of.
