8th coronavirus case confirmed in Monterey County

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION)- The Monterey County Health Department has confirmed that an eighth case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Monterey County.

Health officials report that four of the county's cases were contracted through travel-related activity, while two were contracted through person-to-person transmission and another through community transmission. Officials are still investigating how the eighth case was contracted.

The department has not revealed which towns Monterey County's eight patients are residents of.

The Monterey County Health Department is continuing to work with local medical providers to identify and test individuals who meet the CDC's criteria for COVID-19 testing.
