Two arrested in connection to vehicle burglaries after chase ending in Gilroy
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Two men were arrested in connection to vehicle burglaries at the Del Monte Shopping Center after a chase ending in Gilroy.
Monterey police said that officers responded to a report of four window-smash vehicle burglaries at the shopping center at around 6:30 p.m. Monday. They got a description of a suspect vehicle from a witness and searched the area.
An officer found a vehicle matching the description driving through the shopping center and tried to stop it, but the vehicle got away.
A few minutes later, an officer saw the vehicle going northbound on Highway 1. Police and the CHP tried to stop the vehicle, but it kept going followed by the CHP
Eventually, the suspect vehicle crashed into a tree in Gilroy. Two men in the car were arrested, but the third got away.
20-year-old Terry Pugh of Stockton was arrested on four counts of auto burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, assault with a deadly weapon, felony failing to yield, hit and run, conspiracy and parole violation.
21-year-old Jordan Sanders of Stockton was arrested on four counts of auto burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy.
Both are booked into the Monterey County Jail.
