Coronavirus precautions at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif (KION) Tournament leaders are well aware of the outbreak of Coronavirus, however they’re not worried it will affect attendance at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Tournament director Steve John said if you’re sick don’t come to the Pro-Am and be smart when you do.

“Do the basics. Wash your hands. Be aware and use hand sanitizers,” John said.

The Pro-Am’s medical partner is CHOMP and Montage Health. All of the workers in the medical tents were trained to identify coronavirus symptoms should the situation present itself.

There are two cases of Novel Coronavirus on the Central Coast. Officials say a San Benito county husband was recently in Wuhan, China - the reported epicenter of the coronavirus. The wife did not travel there, which lead officials to call this a case of human-to-human transmission.

He returned to the states through the San Francisco International Airport. Upon arrival, he was even screened and cleared as healthy. Officials say it wasn't until the day after that he developed symptoms and later passed the virus onto his wife.

There have been no cases of the virus is Monterey County.

Tournament leaders say the flu is a bigger concern this week at the Pro-Am.

There will be hand sanitizers at entrances to the tournaments, and workers have sanitizers at their disposal as well.
