Back To Those Dang Ol’ Spring Winds
Welp, back to that transitional Spring pattern! After our late season storm system, we’ll remain sandwiched between high pressure to our west and general troughing to our west. Gusty northwest winds can be expected over the next few days. The ridge will continue to strengthen and nudge ever so slightly east, however, which will help warm us back up close to normal by Tuesday and then above by Wednesday. And while an area of low pressure cuts off from the flow and retrogrades back westward by next weekend, it doesn’t look like we’ll take too much of a temperature hit In fact, it may actually help put the winds down a bit after mid-week.
AIR QUALITY: Good
Overnight: Mostly clear with a few low clouds hugging the north/west-facing slopes of the coastal ranges and patchy fog possible in valley bottoms. Cool with lows in the low to mid 40s on the coast and low 30s to low 40s inland.
Monday: Mostly sunny with a few low clouds on the coast and a few high clouds passing through. Slightly warmer with coastal highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s and upper 60s to low 70s inland. Gusty west-northwesterly onshore and up-valley winds in the afternoon and early evening.
Tuesday: A few low clouds on the coast, otherwise sunny and warmer with coastal highs in the 60s to around 70ºF and upper 60s to mid 70s inland. Gusty northwesterly onshore and up-valleys winds in the afternoon and early evening.
Wednesday: A few low clouds on the coast, otherwise sunny and warmer yet! Coastal highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s with 70s to low 80s inland. Winds ease a bit but will remain breezy on the coast and strong for the inland valleys.
Extended: Winds continue to ease and temperatures warm on Thursday as the ridge has the strongest influence over us. We’ll cool a bit on Friday with deeper onshore flow, especially on the coast where low clouds may maintain an afternoon presence in some areas. It’s looking like we’ll start trending back warmer into Mother’s Day Weekend.
