End of Week Warm-up
High pressure will dominate our
weather into the weekend. As it strengthens and moves closer, temperatures will
slowly warm with most areas seeing their warmest readings on Friday. A deep
trough will then dig in over the west. Being on the west side of this trough,
we’ll remain dry. However, cold, brisk conditions can be expected Sunday
through at least Tuesday.
Overnight: Partly cloudy with patchy fog. Can’t
rule out a few drizzly sprinkles. Breezy northwest winds on the exposed coast
and in the higher terrain. Expect coastal lows in the low to mid 40s with 30s
to low 40s inland.
Wednesday: Passing high clouds with a few low clouds over the
hills. A touch warmer for most areas with highs in the low to mid 60s. The
exception will be the Monterey Peninsula with brisk northwest winds and highs
in the upper 50s. Most other exposed coastal areas and ridgetops will
experience gusty north-northwest winds.
Thursday: A few low clouds near the
coast, otherwise mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the 60s to around 70ºF.
Still a bit breezy up high and on the exposed coast.
Extended: Friday is expected to be the warmest day in the next 7 with highs
some 5-10ºF above normal across the board, all under mostly sunny skies. Slight
cooling expected on Saturday as a dry cold front approaches from the north. The
front will pass on Sunday with chilly, windy conditions behind it. Highs will
drop into the 50s for most areas Sunday through Tuesday. Appreciable rainfall
looks to be at least two weeks out.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for February 5th – 11th calls for the likelihood of BELOW normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
