Starting the Week with Showers & Wind
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – Unsettled weather will continue for the next few days. A large scale area of low pressure to our north will continue to send fast-moving disturbances our way, each capable of producing rounds of showers and gusty winds. Several rounds will move through on Monday, one overnight and another mid to late afternoon with additional chance into Tuesday.
Air Quality: Good
Monday: Mostly cloudy with rounds of showers early, then becoming partly cloudy with only isolated showers into early afternoon. Shower activity picks up again mid to late afternoon and into the early evening. Westerly winds becoming stronger (and cooler!). Temperatures will be cooler overall with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s on the coast and a few mid 60s for the Salinas Valley.
Overnight: Partly to mostly cloudy with rounds of scattered showers. Breezy west-northwesterly winds, occasionally gusty. Cooler lows, mainly in the 40s with a few far interior locations in the 30s.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers. Slight chance for a thunderstorm. Cool with gusty northwesterly winds at times. Highs in the 50s.
Extended: A few showers may linger on the coast Wednesday morning, then there’s a slight chance of showers over the inland mountains Wednesday afternoon. Cool, windy conditions continue. We’ll be drier on Thursday but a few models continue to show a slight chance for showers. By Friday, we’ll be dry for sure and as high pressure builds in, highs return to normal—then above for the weekend!

- Area drought status: Moderate drought for far southeastern Monterey County. Abnormally dry for southeastern Monterey County and eastern San Benito County. Drought-free for the remainder of the KION coverage area. Monterey Bay Sea Surface Temperature as of March 31st : 54.7ºF (avg. of 7 buoys)
