Foggy Morning, Warmer Afternoon

Weak high pressure stretching east toward the West Coast will strengthen a big today, sending inland temperatures higher and closing in on 10ºF above normal. The coast, on the other hand, will cool further due to increased onshore flow—though it will only be breezy at best. The ridge will recede back eastward allowing for weak troughing to begin to dig down the coast. Inland areas will cool back down and we’ll continue to see cooling on the coast as the marine layer deepens. Coastal areas will be cloudier through mid-week and probably toward the end of the week. However, temps will start to edge back upward toward next weekend.

AIR QUALITY: Good/Moderate

Tuesday: Low clouds linger on the south/east sides of the bay, otherwise sunny. Cooler on the coast with highs in the mid 60s to mid 80s—warmest on the north side of the bay—and mid 80s to around 102ºF inland. Windy up valleys late in the day.

Wednesday: Morning low clouds and fog for the coast and valleys with low clouds lingering on the coast during the afternoon and only partial clearing. Inland areas will completely clear out, however. Coastal areas will continue to cool with highs in the 60s to mid-70s—warmest on the north side of the bay and upper 70s to upper 90s inland. Windy up valleys late in the day.

Extended: Inland areas will see further cooling on Thursday before bouncing back up a bit Friday/Saturday while coastal areas will slowly warm back up into the weekend. Deeper troughing on the West Coast this weekend should mix the marine layer back out which will lead to warmer coastal temps but cooler inland temps Sunday/Monday
