Spring Winds

Air Quality (as of 10:00PM):
Good for all reporting stations.

Weather Story: High pressure to our west will exert its influence over us for the next week or so. With that said, a weather system will sneak down the coast overnight, followed by offshore winds into Tuesday. Offshore winds will likely mean a warm-up for coastal areas Tuesday afternoon. We will remain seasonable to slightly warm for the next week with no rain expected, though another weak system will pass by on Thursday.

***GALE WARNING***
… for the near coastal waters of Monterey County from Point Pinos to Point Piedras Blancas from 2PM Monday until 9AM Tuesday

Northwest winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and seas 7 to 121 feet at 12 seconds expected.

Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.

Overnight: A few patchy low clouds, clearing by dawn. Gusty winds at times, especially on the exposed coast. Expect lows in the 40s for most areas with a few sheltered southern valleys dipping into the 30s.

Tuesday: Offshore winds strengthen over the hills and may occasionally mix down into the lower elevations. Sunny & warmer, with highs in the 60s to low 70s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a few high clouds passing through. Mild, with highs in the 60s to low 70s. Low clouds possible on the coast late.

Extended: Low clouds thicken on Thursday morning as a weather system passes by. Some drizzle may be possible. Gusty winds follow, with tranquil, warmer conditions expected through the weekend. In fact, highs should soar to 5-10ºF above normal this coming weekend!
