A Bit Cooler This Weekend

Slightly cooler weather is expected this weekend as a weak weather system passes by to our north. It will promote the development of low clouds once again, which will return again Saturday night into Sunday. Some drizzle may be squeezed from these low clouds. On the back side of the weather system on Sunday, northwest winds could get gusty at times! High pressure will then slowly build in from the south next week, sending high temperatures back above normal by Tuesday and likely lasting into next weekend.

Saturday: Patchy low clouds at the coast, otherwise mostly sunny with occasional passing high clouds. Expect coastal highs in the low 60s to low 70s, with 70s to around 80ºF inland. Breezy in the afternoon for the larger inland valleys. Low clouds increase late with some light drizzle possible on the south/east sides of the bay.

Overnight: Low clouds on the coast and then into the interior valleys. Patchy drizzle possible along the coast and up into the coast-facing hills. Expect coastal lows in the low 50s with 40s to low 50s inland.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy early with a few sprinkles possible, then clearing out by the afternoon. Gusty northwest winds picking up late in the day. Cooler, with coastal highs in the upper 50s to 60s and upper 60s to mid-70s inland.

Extended: After a chilly morning Monday, temperatures will slowly head upward day by day through the end of the week. Highs will be back above normal by Tuesday and skies should be mostly sunny. Breezy conditions can still be expected on the coast and nearby valleys through at least Wednesday.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for May 9th – 15th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
