Weather system to brush Central Coast
The ridge of high pressure that has kept conditions dry for the past few days will drift east and weaken Friday, allowing a weak cold front to enter California. Most measurable rain will be found north of San Francisco. The Central Coast will see an increase in clouds Saturday. Higher pressure will build in behind the front, bringing us a mostly sunny Sunday.
Friday: Mostly sunny with passing high clouds. Some low cloud cover is possible late. Winds shift to the south in the afternoon and may be breezy on the exposed coast. Highs in the low to mid 60s.
Friday night: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the Santa Cruz mountains, but any accumulations would be a few hundredths of an inch.
Saturday: Cooler, with increased clouds and the slight chance of a few sprinkles. Then, partly cloudy and a bit breezy late. Highs mainly in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Extended: Breezy northwest winds will persist on Sunday and could be gusty at times in the afternoon. Otherwise, expect mostly clear and slightly cool conditions. High temperatures will slowly warm next week, though lows will cool down. Tuesday morning is likely to be the coldest with frosty conditions likely inland. A mid-week system may add a few clouds, but not much else. The next chance of rain may hold off until the 11th-13th or so.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for January 10th – 16th calls for the likelihood of BELOW normal temperatures and ABOVE normal precipitation.
