Coastal Flood Warning issued December 23 at 9:00AM PST until December 24 at 12:00PM PST by NWS San Francisco CA

* WHAT…For the Coastal Flood Warning, coastal flooding in low
lying areas. For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large
breaking waves of 25 to 35 feet, with largest wave sets up to 50
feet at favored spots.

* WHERE…San Francisco, Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes
National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern
Monterey Bay and Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast
Counties.

* WHEN…Until noon PST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Life-threatening swimming and surfing conditions and
significant shoreline erosion can be expected. Numerous roads
may be closed, and sand berms over-topped. Large waves can
sweep across the beach without warning, pulling people into the
sea from rocks, jetties and beaches. Sudden immersion in cold
water can result in cold water shock even for the most
experienced swimmers. Cold water shock can result in dramatic
changes in breathing, heart rate and blood pressure, greatly
increasing the risk of drowning in rough open waters.
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.

Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening
surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside
infrastructure.
