It’s Summer, But Is It Summer?
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – The marine layer will deepen a bit on Sunday as a cut-off low to our southwest moves closer to us. This will send cooler air into the inland valleys and keep some low cloudcover on the coast. Light southwesterly flow will also help keep the north side of the bay a little bit cooler than normal. The low will move over us through mid-week, keeping temperatures seasonable to slightly cool
Air Quality: Good
Overnight: Low clouds fill the coast and nearby valleys with patchy fog and drizzle. Lows in the upper 40s to low 50s for most areas.
Sunday: Clouds retreat to the coast, but will only partially clear from the bay. Cool onshore breezes with highs in the 60s for coastal cities and 70s to 90s inland. Windy up valleys late in the day.
Monday: Mostly cloudy early, then becoming mostly sunny inland and partly cloudy on the coast. Highs in the 60s to around 70ºF on the coast and 70s to 90s inland with up valley winds in the afternoon.
Extended: Inland temps will continue to fall a few degrees through mid-week while we hover just below normal on the coast. We’ll have the normal cycle of low clouds during the day. Winds pick up late in the week as the pattern initially flattens out, then a trough passes by. Right now, Fourth of July weather is looking seasonable to slightly cool with a few low clouds on the coast.
