The Unsettled Side Of Fall
Cool conditions will persist for the next few days, through dry weather is expected on Tuesday & Wednesday. A deep trough over the West will move east, but we’ll remain in the cool, northwesterly flow. The next system will arrive on Halloween—see the extended section below for more details.
AIR QUALITY: Good
Overnight: Partly cloudy with an isolated shower possible, though becoming less and less likely as time passes. Gusty northwest winds for exposed areas and up in the mountains. Expect lows in the 40s for most areas with a few inland valley locations dipping into the 30s.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy and continued cool. Breezy northwesterly onshore winds becoming windy up valleys late in the day. Highs in the low to mid 60s on the coast and mainly 60s to around 70ºF inland.
Wednesday: Scattered high clouds throughout the day, then decreasing late. Low clouds then develop along the coast late. Cool, with highs in the low to mid 60s on the coast and mainly 60s inland as well. Windy up valleys late in the day.
Extended: A cold front will bring a band of light rain to the region early on Thursday before dissipating over the area. In the unstable atmosphere behind the front, a few showers may be possible, but this is likely to hold off until well after dark. As of now, it looks like most areas will see a dry period for trick-or-treating Thursday afternoon/evening. Temps remain cool and the weather unsettled into the weekend with the potential for additional rain chances in the Friday through Sunday period. There is a lot of uncertainty in the models beyond Thursday. High pressure out over the Pacific may nudge toward us early next week which could bring warmer weather. Stay tuned to the forecast.
